East Lycian Coast
This is a sample East Lycian coast itinerary, Gocek to Kekova and finishes again in Gocek. Alternatively guests may choose to take a land excursion on the return route on day 7.
We suggest only the highlights on this particular coastal stretch and leave the rest to the leader of the group and the skipper to decide on a day by day basis. The order of the days of the itinerary may change, anchorage days may vary but all the mentioned stops will be visited.
Day 1 Gocek – Yacht
Board the yacht and upon completion of formalities set sail to the Gulf of Gocek. One of the Mediterranean’s best sailing locations, the Gulf of Gocek’s land and seascapes are irresistible. Dotted with islands and indented by coves, it has many anchorages with stunning scenery.
Day 2 Oludeniz – St. Nicolas Island
Following breakfast, sail to the famous Blue Lagoon, Oludeniz. After cruising off its pristine beach, sail towards Gemile (St.Nicolas) Island. It is believed that St. Nicholas lived on this once religiously very important island. Gemile was one of the sanctuaries for the early pilgrims from Europe on their way to Jerusalem and Palestine. This is why there are so many churches on this very small island.
Day 3 Kalkan – Xanthos
Early departure towards Kalkan: a lenghty sail of 40 nautical miles, along the longest beach in Turkey, Patara. After fast in Kalkan marina, optional visit the famous Lycian Capital of Xanthos. Overnight in a bay near Kalkan marina. Free evening.
Day 4 Kaş – Kekova
Sail from Kalkan to Kas, ancient Antiphelllos, is a charming town with palm-shaded promenades and its picturesque peninsula reaching out to a Greek ısland on one side and hosting a new marina on the other. Visit to the Lycian tombs and Byzantine amphitheatre overlooking the sea before lunch. In the afternoon leave the marina for Kekova.
Day 5 Kekova
The second oldest shipwreck known to mankind, 1500 BC, lies on the way to Kekova from Kas. Kekova Island with its submerged ruins lies across from Kale Koy, the most picturesque fishing village on the Turkish coast. Overnight anchorage at Gokkaya.
Day 6 Myra – St. Nicolas Church – Limanagzı
After breakfast sail to the Demre River’s delta and optional visit to ancient Myra, which in the 4th century was important enough to have its own bishop then – one of them was St. Nicolas, also believed as savour of the sailors. Visit St.Nicolas church, sail towards Kalkan in the afternoon and overnight anchorage at Limanagzı.
Day 7 Back to Gulf of Gocek
Sail early to Gulf Of Fethiye. Optional land excursion to Patara, Letoon and Xanthos, with this option boat sails empty to Fethiye and meets guests there around 5:00 PM. Guided land tour cost is € 35 pp including vehicle, lunch and guide. (charge basis 12 pax)
Day 8 Enter Gocek Marina
After breakfast, disembarkation around 10:00 AM, transfer to the airport and fly home. The itineary is always weather permitting, the skipper is happy to discuss next day’s route daily. Alterations can be done within the capacity of the boat, weather and time permitting.
